Hidalgo Park
Hidalgo Park, which was originally the Paseo del Progreso, created at the end of the last century as a result of the arrival of the train. This park had the noble purpose, typical of the Illustration, of being a botanical garden dedicated to the state's flora, thus explaining the reason for the incredible variety of century-old trees and palm trees native to the region that can be found there. Another two especially interesting gardens can be found to the west of the city, the San José Garden, also called the “fig orchard pool,” which is a reminder that once, at the foot of a fig tree there was a spring where the old water vendors, those that had a donkey and earthenware jugs, obtained their supply for the home delivery of drinking water.
