San Luis Potosi Attractions
San Luis Potosi - Capital
Palacio de Gobierno
A neaclassic structure across the Plaza de Armas from the Cathedral dates from 1770. Here Benito Juarez, depite petitions for mercy from all over the world, denied clemency to Archduke Maximilian; the deposed emperor was subsequently excuted at Queretaro. A wax tableau and a portrait gallery in the Juarez Room recall the event.
National Museum of Regional Masks
The museum houses a good collection and represents virtually all aspects of this fascinating part of Mexican culture. There are also classrooms that are used to teach mask making and other arts.
Casa de la Cultura
It's an art museum that exhibits the work of both national and regional artists. It's the best place to go and see Mexican crafts, art and archaeological finds.
Parque Tangamanga
This large park is 2km from the center, and has a planetarium, outdoor theater, aquatic amusement park, two lakes, sports fields, and a small zoo. It offers a bucolic refuge from the busy atmosphere of the city.
