VillahermosaVillahermosa is an ideal site for those who enjoy the water, since it has several inland lagoons, including Las Ilusiones, la Pólvora and El Espejo, and two rivers which cut through the state, the Grijalva and the Carrizal.

It boasts seven museums, four art galleries, and other areas adapted for this purpose, two fascinating temples, a park with extensive grassy areas, tree-lined streets, a planetarium, a convention center and a pedestrian precinct where visitors can stroll, stop for a superb coffee, choose from a selection of first-rate hotels and restaurants and enjoy the active night life.
Many describe it as an earthly paradise.

 

Parque Tomás Garrido Canabal

Parque Tomás Garrido CanabalThis is one of the main Villahermosa attractions. Enjoy the magnificence of this park from the 165 feet-high Mirador de Las Aguilas. Breathe in the purest air while taking in the beauty of the Laguna de las Ilusiones (lagoon of illusions) and the rush of the city. One single day won't be enough time to row, read and play with your family or simply to rest while enjoying the harmonic ambiance provided by this large recreational area.

Nowadays, this park carries the name of the man who founded it in 1930 with the original name of Tabasco Park. This park was created to lodge the commercial and cattle market that distinguishes the state.

It received its current name in 1965 and was remodeled for its reopening in 1985 with new architectural and visual elements representing pre-Hispanic and colonial aspects.

Templo de la Concepción

In 1799 Captain Francisco de Interiano brought from Spain an image of the Immaculate Conception, even since that date numerous attempts of edifying a temple to worship this virgin have been made. On its beginning it barely had a thatched roof, later on it became a brick and tile church, which was destroyed during the American invasion; the church was rebuilt on 1910 and partly destroyed by the religious persecution in 1931. In 1945 it acquired the neogothic style of its facade and its current ornaments. This is one of the most popular Villahermosa sightseeing places you can not miss the chance to visit

 

 

Tabasco History Museum "La Casa de los Azulejos"

The Tabasco History Museum is located in one of the most beautiful houses of Villahermosa, "La Casa de los Azulejos" (The Tile House). This museum features a collection of chests, paintings, altarpieces, weapons, photographs, coins and medals, just as well as pre-Hispanic and ancient Mexican items. "La Casa de los Azulejos" was built between the years 1890 and 1915 with a fine Catalan ceramic-piece facade.

On its decoration a frieze that shows Queen Cleopatra's face. Its exterior architecture blends the Gothic and Moorish styles, giving the building an eclectic feeling. On the superior side it has 6 sculptures; the central one represents the Roman god of commerce, Mercury.
